Come, Play, and Love to Learn Things in Toddler

It has been 7 weeks of school days. Some of children are used to the routine; some still need encouragement to come consistently to school. It is important that children have pat-terns in their daily life. They need to learn about consistency to build their independency and self confidence.

The routine in toddler class has been applied consistently twice in a week. Those who join the class consistently have shown good progresses.

These last three weeks, children have learnt about “Me & My Body” and “Me & My Senses”. Through these themes they learn new vocabulary, new knowledge, and develop their gross and soft motor skills. They have been introduced about items for keeping body cleanliness, the difference of rough and soft, and also stimulating their tactile by pasting cotton on the cup cake paper. They exercise their gross motor skills through playing in the playground and doing the movement of songs such as “Head, shoulder, knees, & Toes” and “I Can Jump”.

The Importance of Sleep for Your Toddler

Sleep studies have shown that:

  • Children who sleep more have higher IQs
  • for hyperactive children, more sleep dramatically improves peer relations and classroom performance
  • healthy sleep has a positive effect on neurological development and prevents learning and behavioral problems
  • children who sleep during the day having longer attention spans
  • children who sleep more are more sociable tiredness will make your toddler:
    • less mentally alert
    • easily distracted
    • lose concentration quickly
    • hyperactive or inactive

Over-tiredness is common in young children. If your child is excited and wants to fight the tiredness to stay up and be part of the fun, their body will secrete hormones such as adrenaline which will cause them to be extra alert. They will seem wide-awake but soon will be hyperactive, irritable and grumpy because they are overtired and will not be able to fall asleep easily. They need to go to bed.
