Da Vinci Express
WELCOME TO ROYAL TOTS ACADEMY!
We are so delighted to welcome your child to our Playgroup class, which we call Da Vinci class. You might be curious why we named our class after the famous Leonardo Da Vinci. Beside his worldwide known paintings, Da Vinci was also an Italian Renaissance architect, musician, anatomist, inventor, engineer, sculptor and geometer. He has been described as the archetype of the “Renaissance Man” and as a universal genius. Leonardo is famous for his masterly paintings, such as The Last Supper and Mona Lisa. …

Picasso Class Term 1 August 2011. Vol 2

Small children have a natural desire to learn. That’s how they understand how to walk and talk and do the myriad of other things that we adults take for granted. They are little sponges who soak up knowledge constantly, seeking even more answers with their e n d l e s s “ w h y ” questions. There is where the IPC curriculum shows its strength. For us as adults it can be satisfying to learn but rarely do we experience the joy that a small child can feel from learning. As …

Healthy Eating Equals Healthy Teeth

Diet plays a critically important role in the health of your child’s teeth. Developing healthy eating habits early in life will help ensure strong and healthy adult teeth. A recent Australian report indicates that dental decay rates are rising among 6 year olds. Good oral health during infancy and the toddler years contributes to better dental health throughout life with less dental decay and lower rates of missing teeth.
Early Childhood Caries:
As soon as your baby develops their first tooth, they are at risk of dental decay. …

Sleep Basics
By Vincent Iannelli, M.D. http://pediatrics.about.com/od/sleep
Like adults, children often don’t get enough sleep at night.  Unfortunately, not getting enough sleep and being sleep-deprived can have serious consequences.

Children’s Sleep Needs

Before you can know if your child is getting enough sleep, it can help to know how much sleep you should expect your child to get. Children’s sleep needs depend on their age:

Newborn – 16 hours
Infants – 12 to 14 hours (including up to 4 1/2 hours of daytime sleep in 2 to 4 naps)
Toddlers – 12 hours (including up to …

Come, Play, and Love to Learn Things in Toddler
It has been 7 weeks of school days. Some of children are used to the routine; some still need encouragement to come consistently to school. It is important that children have pat-terns in their daily life. They need to learn about consistency to build their independency and self confidence.
The routine in toddler class has been applied consistently twice in a week. Those who join the class consistently have shown good progresses.

Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need (Kahlil Gibran, 1883—1931)
During second and third week, toddlers learnt about the primary colors, Red and Blue. Children were introduced the colors through activities such as painting and sorting things. When they sorted items, the activity was integrated with gross motor skill exercises such as crawling their body parts through the tunnel and putting the items in the basket. Through the theme “Me & My Family”, toddlers also are getting to know the vocabulary of family members, …

Margot Fonteyn Term 1 – July 2011. Vol 1

WELCOME TO FONTEYN CLASS!
Toddler is the first step to know the new comer apart from their family circle. They start to build their sense of socialization and independent behavior. They like to explore many things from the environment. They like to move, cannot stand still, and their concentration span is limited. They still need guidance and high supervision during activities.
It is the reason that all kinds of activities in our class are delivered in 15 minutes. For every transition we also encourage them to sing and try to give understanding …
